Pilates Basic Principles : #1 – BREATHING

Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth

Proper breathing involves expanding the rib cage on the sides and your back, without allowing your shoulders to lift upwards.
 

It's important to bring the air to the lower part of your lungs to promote gas exchange and ensure good oxygenation of the muscles when you take a breath.
 

Breathing can engage the deep abdominal muscles and stabilize the trunk. It also helps to release tension and promotes concentration.
